Rebecca Payne, 22, of New Milford died May 20th 2008 in her Boston apartment of gunshot wounds, shots being fired by an unknown intruder.
Rebecca, the only child of Virginia and Nicholas Payne of New Milford, was born April 19,1986, in Danbury and attended New Milford public schools. She graduated New Milford High School in 2004. While at High School she was keen on sports, playing Field Hockey, Track and Tennis. She was also a Year Book editor, taking great pride in making the Year Book the best it could be.
For many years Rebecca attended Camp Washington, first as a camper and then as a much loved counselor.
Rebecca continued on to Northeastern University in Boston to study Athletic Training, which involves the care and prevention of athletic injuries. In the fourth year of the 5 year program she was on the Dean’s Council, and President of the Athletic Training Club. One month ago
Rebecca was instrumental in organizing the Northeastern University’s ‘A Vision for the Future’Athletic Training Leadership Forum. She was also involved in the Episcopal Lutheran Center.
As an enthusiastic fan of professional sports, Rebecca was a Yankee fan in Boston and a fan of Liverpool Football Club and leaves their theme
banner “You’ll Never Walk Alone” hanging on her bedroom wall.
We will remember Rebecca as a ray of sunshine: always having a smile, never worrying about things not worth worrying about, dedicated to excellence in whatever she did. So untimely ripped from our presence, Rebecca will be greatly missed by us all.
